CLERK OF WORKS – (BUILDING SERVICES)
An Excellent Opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clerk of Works (Building Service) in Wexford on a rolling contract. The project is forecasted to run for the next 28/34 months.
Duties:
- To ensure the correct interpretation of all documents and that all works are carried out in accordance with the drawings, specification and other Contract Documents. Specific Knowledge of and ability to interpret engineers drawings specifications and technical directions.
- To advise the Consulting Engineer/Architect of any additional information required by the Contractor.
- To check that all workmanship and materials meet the standards and performance criteria for the project and to identify and record unacceptable work as soon as possible and inform the Consulting Engineer / Architect accordingly.
- Implement Permit-to-Work procedures and co-ordinate with hospital staff the management of interfacing, shut downs, connections and commissioning of services and building works under the contract via agreed method statements, reporting to the Project Manager and the Project Office as necessary. This will involve liaison with the onsite Maintenance Manager and Client Management where required
- To report to the Consulting Engineer / Architect on the implementation of the Main Contractors programme for the works, preparing progress reports, keeping records of instructions, variations and dayworks.
- To record all factors which could give rise to claims for disruption or affect the projects progress.
- To generally assist in communication matters between the Main Contractor’s site staff and the Architect’s / Consulting M&E office.
- To assist the Consulting Engineer / Architect in site inspections.
- To identify and maintain an up to date schedule of remedial items.
- To accompany all Local Authority inspectors on their visits to site. Maintaining the necessary liaison with the Local Authorities, as appropriate, in respect of compliance with statutory requirements.
- To attend Design Team Meetings, both on and off site and site meetings as required.
- To keep a detailed accurate diary of all events pertaining to the job, to include site reports, recording progress, material delivery and site labour and plant to be prepared in a form to be agreed with the Architect. Posses the requisite knowledge of Construction contract procedures. Be capable of writing clear and precise reports, keeping work records, measuring and recording all variations from contracts and reading drawings
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Recognised Apprenticeship / Trade background or Certificate/Diploma in relevant discipline / Electrical/Building Services
- At least 5 yrs experience, ideally as clerk of works, in relation to the installation of engineering services in Healthcare buildings
- Operation of a computerized maintenance management system / BMS system
- 5 years satisfactory supervisory experience of building projects in Healthcare Environment is desirable.
